Time until cheaters get caught

To #10:
Dear endurebacklash, yes, I do play strong. Like thousands of other strong players, who do not have established FIDE rating. There are a lot of reasons why people do not have FIDE rating. If you have any reasonable suspicions concerned my play, you should inform mods and they should ban me. Otherwise you should apologize.

However, I think, I have to clarify what I meant in #1.
- The cheaters exist and will exist. I fully understand this fact and can not do anything with that.
- There IS a way to stop a cheater: report to mod -> games analysis -> ban . You do not have to invite a wheel again with personal identification or so.
- The problem is: NOW cheater can really become a champion without being caught for a quite long time. This is not normal! They should not be able to reach 2200+ rating if the system works properly. Something is wrong here. That was a point of my post.
>> Otherwise you should apologise
I am not going to apologise, because you can't prove you do not use an engine.

Accusing somebody of cheating online is the most flagrant violation of ethics. Everyone can cheat: you just need to be a decent player and use an engine once per game in the most crucial moment.

You can't go to the forums and claim your opponent was cheating because you lost that game. But many online players do so...
To #12. Ok, then I will have to report you to mods. I don't have to prove you anything. Note, that I did not accuse certain personalities in cheating, despite I do talk about the persons, who were proved to cheat and were labeled to be cheaters. Playing good and cheating are different things.
No, in that cases I completely believed in mods' decisions. There WERE certain clear signs for cheating.
The most obvious sign of cheating is when a player has no FIDE rating and does not want to disclose his name.
That's how it works. And I still did not report you yet and am still waiting for explanation if you really in public accuse me in cheating directly or indirectly.
*eyeroll*

If you two are done baiting each other...

As it's been stated across a long list of threads since the dawn of lichess' anti-cheat system...the easiest way to get cheaters detected is to generate analysis for all their suspect games. If the analysis continues to look suspect but the system has not autoflagged them from having this data, submit a report on the player to a mod. The mod team will look at that player's games using a lot of other tools they specially have access to in order to decide if the player should be flagged, placed on a watch list, or shows no signs of being suspect.

What likely happened with the champion player being referred to is there likely wasn't enough evidence right away to conclude beyond a doubt that the player was cheating. Perhaps they were either a) placed on a watch list awaiting more evidence or b) contacted due to suspcion they might be a titled player that could submit proof and receive their title.

In the event of contact for verification, they will not necessarily be flagged right away. Sometimes those accounts are simply closed after contact and never flagged. Sometimes they provide a weak story and are flagged. Sometimes they provide credentials but ask not to have their title displayed for anonymity reasons. There are so many factors going on behind the scenes sometimes that no one is aware of.

All that said, we've seen blatant cheaters get flagged during tournaments. I personally saw a cheater have his tournament 2nd place revoked and account closed after filing a report within 24 hours recently. The absolute best way to handle cheaters is to generate analyses and file reports. If it's unacceptable that it can take up to *zomg three whole days?!* to flag a cheater (who may have been contacted for the option of presenting credentials if the evidence wasn't conclusive that they were in actuality a machine) particularly in the classical time control where it's much harder to detect cheaters due to much stronger play...well, I don't know what to say. Good luck seeing such a high level cheater getting caught faster elsewhere if at all?
