Search them up, you either love them or hate them.
or you don't bother searching them up
If I were unable to afford real ebony pieces, I would save up. Granted, not everyone wants to spend a lot of money on chess pieces. My question is, "Would ebonized pieces make you happy?" If the answer is yes, then, by all means, buy some. I will say that less expensive wooden chess pieces are better for real games. You don't worry so much when a King gets knocked over.
Ebony or Ebonized, that is the question...
They are decent but I don't like them nor hate them.
Ebony vs Ebonized ???? IMHO the ebonized sets are very nice esp. if you like the high contrast in colour. That being said, natural woodgrains are also very nice too, nothing wrong w/ Rosewood. Wood shortages and slow growth make ebony cost more and many sets being triple weighted these days ....the staining of boxwood to simulate ebony works out just fine. I go back and forth on woodgrain vs. pure black sets
