share a GOOD EXPERIENCE for a change

A gentleman offered me a draw, I think because he felt sorry for my terrible play, and I declined. I suppose he was being nice, but I'm already extremely conscious of how terrible I am, and it made me feel stupid. I think it's best to just play and get the result, whatever it is.
About #1: "I am from the USA (to say you are an American is an often overlooked insult to our neighbors in North/ South America)."

It`s right to say you are an American, because the name of your country is United States of America, so, "America" is not only part of the name of your country, but the last part, so, in Brazil, for example, we usually call you "americano"(90% of the time), sometimes "norteamericano"(9%) and very rarely "estadunidense" (less than 1% - it means "unitedstater" - arrgh!).
..............@BearJr -- you are right. As someone who spent much of my childhood in Europe, I am sensitive to the fact that SOME of my countrymen are obnoxious when dealing with other cultures so I made my parenthetical remark as an educational point.
..... But my main point was about good experiences... Have you had one lately?
We must call ourselves American because we ain't got no other genuine name for our folks. - Other people like e.g. Canadiens or Uruguayos, they got bettern advantage concerning their identity. And "US Citizen" wouldn't do - like no Brit would say UK Citzen. Poor Amerigo if he'd knowed the trouble he'd Cause.
@steger --- THANK YOU... You gave me a good chuckle and I hope this side bar/ diversion is closed....
.....----.... (We could be calling ourselves Vespucians you know --- but then the people on Venus would be ticked off). [By the way, I HATE political correctness --- I think it is a bullying tactic that inhibits true dialog and disguises the very prejudices/ offenses it claims to safeguard. I happen to love my country and its principles and I feel very bad when my fellow citizens fail to respect & appreciate the beauty of other peoples and cultures]

Enuf of that: ANOTHER GOOD EXPERIENCE.... I have 'made friends' and have had very good exchanges with 3 people under the age of 15 from 2 different countries... 1 happens to kick my butt in chess...
the 2nd Correspondence Chess Tournament... it is great to see the good seed that static planted growing.... One only has to look at the thread to see people HELPING EACH OTHER OUT & being very responsible with starting their games
i slipped today in a blitz game and played Kf1 instead of castling, i requested a takeback and my opponent who was 100 points higher than me didnt hesitate and gave me the takeback instantly. It was nice to see a higher rated player do that as he had alot of rating on the line :)
