The difference between players rated 1800 and 2000 seems so huge.

I want to get to 2000 and it just feels like players become beasts around that rating compared to even 1900. I'm rated low 1900s and I just played a 1800 and it was like taking candy from a kid. Dropped his queen then a piece. Played so slowly and positionally terribly in the opening. Then rather than resign just left the game like a kid would (maybe is a kid...) I know we all have bad games and I lose to players rated in the 1800s but it just feels like a 2000 would never come close to playing so badly. When I play a 2000 it feels like I'm playing Stockfish. When I play a 1800 it feels like I'm playing a 1980s chess computer on easy mode. Will I feel the same way about people rated 1900 if I get to 2100?
Hi there,
These guys are getting better, even those in the rating range 1600 to 1800.
They know the theory in the scotch game, stunning...
Anyway , best of luck....
People blunder a lot inbetween 600-2450 i would say they start playing decent at 2430 lichess blitz onwards (not too good but decent)
2000 -1800 obvisously is big difrence as 200 points is. Stronger player is expected to get 3/4 poitnt is such an encounter
Bro im 2100 rapid and i feel the same about 2000 - 2200.

Like when im playing alright (not rn, on a slump) 2000s just play the most garbage moves and are easy to beat.

then i go play a 2200 and can find no weaknesses in their game.

I think the feeling is universal lol
Just FYI a 100 elo difference means that the best player will win in 65 % of the time
the same elo than you you will beat him 50 % of the time and a 200 elo difference means you will beat the other one 75 % of the time

so in fact when you are 100 points elo above someone else you beat in 65 % and he beats you 35 % => 2 times more

So 100 points elo is not that much but in fact due to the elo system it is like you are 2 times stronger than the other one !!!!!

200 points elo difference means you beat him 75 % and him 25 % so you are 3 times better than the other one !!!!!!!
Spoken like a true 1900. :) Everybody feels that way about whoever's right below em and whoever's right above.
I kind of knew it was a dumb question @MrPushwood but I had to vent. It does feel like the difference between 1800 and 2000 is bigger than many jumps as it's where players go from playing the most garbage openings to something half decent and stop blundering queens to blundering pawns... etc.

@HDGhog Thanks for that breakdown!

@rajma420 Yeah I'm 2100 Rapid too (this is a new account) and have exact same issue as you. 2150 is my brick wall there at the moment.

@Ben10Tenyson Haha you may be right.
