Halloween Gambit

4th move by white: white gives a knight for a pawn. 3 > 1 so it is a mistake
7th move by white: since white is a piece down he needs to do something specific (aka f4 + e5) which the random Bf4 does not achieve
9th move by white: white worsens the position of his knight, and loses influence over the centre, so it is a mistake. A random move like for example 9.Rb1 or 9.Rg1 would be better than this
9th move by black: not the most accurate ,but everything wins
10th move by white: this just drops the whole center
10th move by black: not the most accurate ,but everything wins
11th move by white: this just drops the whole center
11th move by black: not the most accurate ,but everything wins
12th move by white: this just drops a piece
12th move by black: this does not win the piece
14th move by white : this drops whatever is left from white's position
16th move by white: a wise decision that puts an end to this game so that white can forget about it and go have a drink with his girlfriend
Thanks! I studied Halloween Gambit long time ago. Until now, I haven't got a chance to face it as black.

Here is a crazy variation of Sicilian. I have never seen it before. This is a high rated opponent who tries an unfamiliar opening against me! I don't understand this opening.
I think it is fair to say that noone will ever understand this opening.
Still, great handling, thumbs up.

You had no chance to play it as black so far ?
How about playing in tourneys on Lichess ?
The Halloween gambit has been occurred several times in thematic tourneys on Lichess here.
In those tourneys I've played that opening as white and black.
I noticed that several rather high rated players gave back the material real soon to get an equal position.

Here's 2 weblinks, one of them mentions a possible refutation :

This opening is for tricksters and I don't like it.
Ng6 instead of Nc6 and black is winning. End of story.
